Amber perfumes are warm, resinous and slightly sweet; oud (agarwood) adds a dark, smoky depth. Together they make the richest, most enveloping scents. The Fumist makes 4: N° 02 — rich, sweet and resinous: saffron and rose over amber and oud (unisex); N° 13 — airy and glowing: saffron and jasmine over amberwood, fir resin and cedar (unisex); N° 18 — sweet and warm: a fruity opening, then davana and osmanthus on vanilla and tonka (unisex); N° 09 — a warm floral: rose and orange blossom over amber, sandalwood and vanilla (for women). Prices start at ₹799 for 50 ml or ₹1,399 for 100 ml.

Questions

About amber & oud perfumes

What is amber in a perfume?

Not the fossil stone. In perfumery, “amber” is a warm accord — usually resins, vanilla-like notes and soft woods — that gives a glowing, slightly sweet base.

What is oud?

Oud is the dark, resinous scent of agarwood, long loved across India and the Middle East. N° 02 sets it under saffron, rose and amber.

Is an amber or oud perfume too heavy for every day?

It depends on the scent. N° 13 is airy and works day or evening; N° 02 and N° 18 are richer, and one or two sprays are enough.
